Despite the situation with the new covid-19 variant, the international borders of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan remain open to certain destinations for now.
The President of the Russian Federation announced in mid-December at a press conference that there is no plan of a lockdown. Though various restrictions related to organization of events, schooling and others are in place.
Similarly, the borders of Ukraine will remain open as per the President's announcement earlier in December 2020. This is despite tightening covid-19 restrictions in the whole country and the scheduled lockdown from 8-24 January 2021.
